There are many different types of lubricant on the market, each with its own specific use. From oil to thicker pastes, the main purpose of these materials is to protect mechanisms and considerably extend their service life.

Etraves and its lubricant packaging solutions bring all their know-how to bear: Optimum packaging of these products requires expertise in order to transport and market them correctly. As these products are subject to specific anti-pollution regulations, each Etraves Etraves lubricant packaging must be perfect.

Paste-type lubricants and greases

These pasty lubricants are used for all bearings that are not intended to rotate "quickly", such as certain ball bearings. These pastes are also used for assembling and fitting certain parts, and for work above 300 degrees: above this temperature, the base oil evaporates.

Better known to the general public and used in all industries, greases are multi-tasking lubricants. Their usefulness is obvious when faced with high temperatures and the high rotation speeds of various mechanisms. This versatile lubricant can be found everywhere, even in our daily lives, unlike liquids which systematically require a reservoir.

Liquid lubricants, used on a daily basis

An oil is a liquid of more or less fluid consistency, whose viscosity depends on the type of use. For example, engine or gear oil will not have the same consistency depending on the different models of machines! And this for several reasons, including :

  • The heating temperature (an oil is thicker when cold)
  • Intensive use or not
  • Additives integrated or not
  • User exposure

Each use must therefore be as appropriate as possible, for optimal use. There are different oils for this purpose: For high temperatures, for hydraulic use, for metalworking, synthetic or mineral motor oils, with or without additives, etc. The list is long and each machine or engine will indicate which one to use for its operation.
The lubricant must be able to adhere perfectly to the part concerned to guarantee the best performance of the machines, motors and gears. Systems in good condition will help this adhesion, in addition to the additives present in these liquids.

Packaging for all

To sell and transport lubricants, proper storage is essential. It's important to think about the container and its usefulness: lubricants don't require the same materials for storage. Oils are sold in cans or tubes (because of their liquid properties and additives), while greases and pastes can be packaged in jars or cartridges. The advantage of this hermetically sealed packaging is that it makes storage easier and more efficient. End-use and convenience are also essential factors in the choice of packaging.
